About

Carrie Miller

I’m a filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist focused on telling queer stories through film, art, and history. My work explores queerness as both identity and action—pushing boundaries and creating space for underrepresented voices. I founded Lavender Lens and collaborate with LGBTQ+ organizations like Out on Film, Queer Film Alliance, The Bakery Atlanta, Charis Books & More, and Touching Up Our Roots to build community through storytelling.

I’ve created many short films, dance films, music videos, art films, and a feature documentary, A Time With Isadora, which blends historic dance, choreography, and visual art to examine the legacy of Isadora Duncan. Highlights of my work include In Retrospect, a queer time-travel story set in the 1980s lesbian club scene, and Beauty Within, a gentle exploration of gender identity and connection.

I’ve served as Vice President of Out and Proud Filmmakers and sat on the board of Women in Media at the University of Georgia, underscoring my commitment to community-building and representation in film. I bring hands-on experience across producing, directing, cinematography, and editing—and remain focused on projects that amplify LGBTQ+ and minority voices.

Currently, I’m developing a feature expansion of In Retrospect and two new documentaries—one spotlighting queer elders, and another on my own queer upbringing. At the heart of everything I do is a drive to connect, uplift, and reflect the creative power of the LGBTQ+ and Trans community.
